How to Pair Mixers and other Flavors with Bogue Sound Distillery Spirits

Bogue Sound Distillery spirits each have their own distinct flavors. Here are some of the best mixers to pair with our spirits, so you can create delicious cocktails at home. If you’re looking for some cocktail recipes, check out our Cocktails by the Season download!

Vitzellen Vodka

Fruit Juice (cranberry, orange, pineapple, pomegranate)

Because vodka is colorless and odorless, it allows other flavors to shine through. Using fruit juice in a cocktail allows you to mask the strength of vodka without having to sacrifice taste. Plus, you can create countless combinations for a new drink experience every time.

Lemonade or Iced Tea (regular, raspberry, strawberry)

Lemonade and iced tea are easy mixers because they can be used as is to make a complete and flavorful drink. No need to add any other ingredients, other than ice and vodka, of course! You can even mix the two together to create a delicious Arnold Palmer cocktail.

Sparkling Drinks (tonic, seltzer, champagne, lemon-lime soda)

Some people might think vodka is boring, so bubbles can add some excitement to your cocktail! You can also boost the flavor of your drink by adding a squeeze of citrus, using flavored seltzer, or topping it with your favorite champagne.

JAPC Bourbon Whiskey

Ginger Ale and Ginger Beer

The zesty, pungent flavor of ginger blends really well with the oaky qualities of whiskey. If you prefer your drink a little sweeter, use ginger ale. For drinks with more spice, use ginger beer.

Apple Cider

Freshly pressed apple cider is a great mixer to use with whiskey throughout the year. During cooler months, you can create a warm cocktail by heating up the cider with some cinnamon and orange slices. During warmer months, you can add some caramel to the cider and serve over ice.

Fruit

Smashed or muddled drinks that feature fruits –such as blackberries, peaches, and oranges– pair really well with the smoky taste of our bourbon whiskey. You can create modern cocktails by pairing each fruit with unique flavors such as mint, basil, and maple (respectively).

Bombshell Gin

Lemon-Lime Soda

I’m sure you’ve heard of pairing gin with tonic, but they both have bitter qualities. Lemon-lime soda is sweet, so helps cut through some of that bitterness. And the subtle citrus notes of the soda won’t overpower the crisp cucumber essence of our bombshell gin.

Citrus (lemon, lime, grapefruit)

The tart flavors of citrus compliment the bitter undertones of our gin. Just a splash of citrus juice will enhance the brightness of the gin without overpowering it. You can also add a bit of sugar or honey helps round out and mellow the flavor of the cocktail.

Herbs & Spices

Our Bombshell Gin has earthy undertones, so you can create delicious cocktails using unique ingredients such as thyme, rosemary, peppercorns, star anise, mint, juniper berries, basil, lavender and sage.

JAPC Salted Caramel Spirit

Coffee

The bitterness of coffee and sweetness of our caramel spirit pair really well together. Whether you create a cocktail that is hot, cold or blended into a frozen shake, these two flavors blend into a well-balanced drink that is full of flavor.

Apple Cider

Cider is another great mixer for this spirit, because the tartness of the apple balances out the sweetness of the caramel. Warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg create a seasonal taste that is perfect for the holidays, no matter if your cocktail is served hot or cold.

Cream

If you’re in the mood for a cocktail with a dessert-like twist, anything made with cream/milk will blend perfectly with our caramel spirit. Sweet bases such as hot chocolate, egg nog, Irish cream and milkshakes will deliver a smooth and delicious treat.
